Grace Clinic

laser ablation

laser ablation

We offer a fast and painless method of treating varicose veins by laser treatment of the walls of damaged veins.

Varicose veins in the legs are irreversible diseases, and sooner or later will require surgical treatment. The inevitable progression of pathological processes will lead not only to aesthetic defects and pain, but to life-threatening thrombophlebitis. Today, at the first consultation appointment, after assessing the condition of the veins, the surgeon-phlebologist of the Grace Clinic can offer the patient to do not a classic combined phlebectomy, but a technique patented in the world since 2002. It is called endovenous laser coagulation (ablation, obliteration) of the veins of the lower extremities (EVLK, EVLA, EVLO).

The essence of endovenous laser coagulation

Today, the treatment of a vein in the leg with a laser is considered the "gold standard" in the treatment of varicose veins.

Endovenous laser coagulation is performed under ultrasound (ultrasound) control. A radial optical fiber light guide is inserted through a miniature puncture into the lumen of the vessel. The action of a laser of a certain length makes the blood and water in the vein walls boil locally, due to which the inner endothelium is destroyed, the proteins of the deep layers of the vascular wall coagulate (coagulate), and the vein walls ablate (melt) and grow together from the inside.

Benefits of laser coagulation of varicose veins

  1. Can be performed under local anesthesia, which does not require a long hospital stay after surgery. After 3 hours, the patient can go home.
  2. The absence of incisions guarantees an excellent cosmetic effect without visible seams and scars.
  3. You can go to work, subject to certain restrictions, the very next day after laser ablation of veins.
  4. In some cases, it is not necessary to use compression hosiery.

Our expertise

the procedure

You come for a consultation with our phlebologist, during which he will carefully listen to your complaints, answer all your questions and tell you about the procedure. The procedure is performed for varicose veins with pathological reflux, therefore, at the consultation, a specialist does a duplex scan. Also, this method is used only for the main veins.

the procedure

Endovenous laser ablation lasts 30–45 minutes and is performed under local anesthesia. The specialist conducts heat treatment of the vein walls with a high-energy laser. This leads to hardening of the veins.

the procedure

At the end, you will be put on a compression jersey. It needs to be worn around the clock for several days. The period of vein hardening lasts several months, therefore, at the repeated consultation and ultrasound, it will be possible to evaluate the result.

Our approach to endovenous laser ablation

In addition to the traditional surgical method of treating varicose veins, our specialists offer a modern laser method - endovenous laser ablation.

During the procedure, the damaged veins are not removed, but thermally treated with a laser from the inside. This leads to heating and hardening of the veins. Only veins of the main type are subject to heat treatment. To influence the saphenous veins, endovenous laser ablation is combined with mini-phlebectomy.
