Q&A

What are uterine fibroids? Is this a serious problem? Is surgery the only way to get rid of it?

Uterine fibroids are benign tumours, but they affect both the quality of life and the chance of pregnancy. The treatment of uterine fibroid depends on the size and location of the lumps. For instance, uterine fibroids being located in the middle of the uterus can be removed using hysteroscopy. We only monitor uterine fibroids up to 5 cm in size being located outside or in the uterine wall and not having any symptoms. However, symptomatic fibroids larger than 5 cm require laparoscopy. Fibroids can be treated with medications, but the lumps won’t resolve completely. There is no such thing as a scary diagnosis for our expert at Grace Clinic. We go for adequate organ-preserving treatments together with radio-wave, laser, and other advanced techniques. In gynecology, we focus on dealing with complications. Our highly qualified and experienced doctors choose the best strategies.
