Eyelid
surgery

Eyelids reflect fatigue, age, and lack of sleep. Patches help fix the problem for a while. But you need to undergo blepharoplasty to achieve long-term results.

Your eyelids can tell us about your health problems. Swollen eyelids or under-eye bags not only make you look worse but can reduce visual acuity, cause discomfort, and affect trustful eye communication. Eyelid surgery or blepharoplasty will help make your eyes open and impressive, while you’ll look younger and more attractive.

Today, we have the following types of eyelid surgery:

Lower eyelid blepharoplasty.

Your under-eye bags can be removed with the help of eyelid surgery using two techniques:

  • Transconjunctival blepharoplasty with an incision on the inner side of the eyelid (conjunctiva) is suitable for those who need to remove only excess fat without reducing loose skin;
  • Subciliary blepharoplasty with an incision just under the eyelashes is performed in case of severe swelling, large bags, fat hernias, wrinkles, and skin folds.

Upper eyelid surgery.

With an incision along the eyelid crease, the surgeon removes excess skin with or without removing fat hernias. Designed to repair droopy upper eyelids, such plastic surgery will help you get rid of such defects as ‘ageing eyelid’, ‘heavy eyelids’, and ‘tired eyes’.

Circular blepharoplasty.

In this case, the surgeon works simultaneously on the upper and lower eyelids.

Also, Grace Clinic offers eye reshaping surgery. We perform such procedure for those with Asian eyes who would like to get European ones. Eye reshaping surgery can be performed for those who have too narrow eyes. With lateral canthoplasty, we can elongate the outer aspect of your eyes by 2–3 mm.

Our experience

Before

surgery

At the first consultation, our plastic surgeon will carefully listen to all of your preferences, set realistic expectations for surgery, predict its efficiency, and answer all of your questions in detail. At the preoperative evaluation, you undergo the complete body check-up and have all of the necessary tests.
During

surgery

Performed under general anaesthesia, the procedure takes 1–2 hours. The surgeon makes small incisions and removes excess skin. The surgeon hides a scar in the eyelid crease on the upper eyelid and under the eyelashes on the lower eyelid. The seams are as invisible as possible to make sure the scars are aesthetic and almost unnoticeable.
After

surgery

The rehabilitation period takes 10–14 days, while the stitches can be removed after 7–8 days. During the first few days, you may experience slightly blurred vision and increased sensitivity to light. The swelling starts to subside gradually in 2–3 days after surgery.

Our approach to blepharoplasty

Our approach to blepharoplasty

Our eyes will tell how tired we are, how little sleep we have, and how old we really are. The upper eyelids begin to droop, while the lower ones begin to sag. You notice under-eye bags which can’t be hidden with any patches, creams, and injections.

Therefore, we offer you to undergo eyelid surgery to make sure you’ll have your fresh eyes for a long time. Our experts perform various types of procedures depending on your eye condition: lower and upper eyelid plastic surgery and eye reshaping surgery.

Q&A

Will eyelid surgery help me get rid of dark blue under-eye bags?

For a start, we need to find out what causes your dark blue bags. They can be triggered by various processes in your body. These include kidney diseases, heart failure, and even genetic causes. If your eyelid skin is too thin, your spider veins are more prominent and enhance your dark blue under-eye bags. At the consultation, our surgeon will accurately answer this question within a specific case. We’re all different. Therefore, your dark blue under-eye bags can have different triggers. Anyway, eyelid surgery can help reduce your under-eye bags.

Can my eyes be injured during eyelid surgery?

At Grace Clinic, any surgery is performed by experts who have many years of hands-on experience. They perform eyelid surgery under close visual control which completely discounts the possibility of them impacting your eyeballs. Surgery doesn’t affect visual acuity either. However, your visual acuity may decrease due to changes in your body and possible postoperative oedema in the first days after surgery. Everything returns to normal in a few days.

How to have showers and wash my face after eyelid surgery?

You can have showers from the neck down right after surgery. Once your surgeon confirms that it’s safe, you can wash your face or hair. For your hair, it’s better to use dry shampoo. You’re not allowed to wash your face during the first week. Once your stitches are removed, the surgeon will guide you through your washing routine. For 3–4 weeks after surgery, don’t apply creams or make-up on the operated areas of your face. It’s best to check with your doctor before using any product on the operated area.
